What it's good for

Use this tool to remove objects from photos without opening a full photo editor. Typical jobs are clearing tourists out of a travel shot, deleting a trash can or a stray cable from a product photo, hiding a date stamp, or taking text off a screenshot. You paint over the object, and the AI fills that area with background that matches what's around it.

The free eraser, coming soon, uses MI-GAN, a compact inpainting model that runs directly in your browser. That's why it will be free and private: nothing is sent to a server, and there's no limit on how many photos you clean up. Until it launches, use the AI Object Remover.

Tips for a clean result

  • Cover the whole object. Include its shadow and any reflection, or the AI may rebuild them.
  • Go a little past the edges. A small margin around the object blends better than a tight outline.
  • Work in passes. For several objects, remove one at a time and check the result before the next.
  • Zoom in to check. Look at the filled area at full size, especially on faces, patterns and straight lines.

Free eraser vs. AI Object Remover

The free eraser is meant for small and medium objects on fairly simple backgrounds like sky, walls, sand or grass. For large objects, people close to the camera, or detailed backgrounds such as brick, text or crowds, the AI Object Remover gives a more convincing fill. It runs a larger model on our servers and costs 4 credits. Neither version adds a watermark, and you can send the result straight to the Image Upscaler or Generative Fill to keep editing.

Limitations

The AI invents what was hidden behind the object, so it can't recover details that were never in the photo. Repeating patterns, lettering and faces behind the removed object may come out soft or slightly different. When that happens, try a smaller area, or switch to the AI Object Remover.
