What background tools are for
Most photos are taken somewhere messy: a cluttered room, a busy street, a kitchen table. Background tools separate the main subject from everything behind it, so you can use it on its own or put it somewhere new. Common uses include product photos for online stores, profile pictures, stickers, thumbnails, slides and marketing images.

How to choose
For a transparent cutout today, use the HD Background Remover. Once the free Remove Background launches, it will be the place to start for products and people on simple backgrounds, with the HD version for rough edges around hair, fur or see-through parts. If you want a full scene rather than a cutout, go straight to Change Background. For a plain color or your own template, a cutout plus your own editor is the fastest route.
Tips for clean results
Choose photos where the subject stands out clearly from the background and is fully in frame. Check edges at full size before you download, especially around hair and fingers. Cutouts from both removers never carry a watermark, so they are ready to use in your designs. After removing a background, you can send the result to the Image Upscaler for a larger version or to Image to Video to animate it.
